Virat Kohli straight away gestured 'no', even touched his ears with both hands, when spectators in the stands during one of Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) matches in IPL 2024 shouted: "Kohli ko bowling do". Revisiting that incident during a chat on JioCinema, which also involved Kohli's former India teammate Suresh Raina, the batting legend couldn't stop laughing about it.
"IPL mei nahi karunga (won't bowl in the IPL)" said Kohli laughing, and it left Raina in splits.

"Do teen baar puchhe 'bowling do'. Maine kaha bhai maaf kar do. Pagal ho gaye ho kya bhai. Batting ka confidence bhi khatam ho jayega (spectators said 2-3 times, give him the bowling. I said forgive me. Have you guys gone mad! I will also lose my confidence in batting)," Kohli added, and laughed.

The point in reference made by Kohli was perhaps the way batsmen have exploded in this IPL, with totals in excess of 200 almost becoming a new normal. In fact, the league has set a new record for most 200-plus totals in one season, most sixes in a single edition, highest total successfully chased, most sixes in a single match and so on.
Also, Kohli himself has been on top of his batting form, leading the charts and wearing the Orange Cap with 661 runs in 13 innings so far, including one hundred and 5 fifties.
RCB face a do-or-die situation in their final league match of the season against five-time champions Chennai Super Kings on Monday. They not only have to beat MS Dhoni & Co but also ensure that their net run-rate ends up being better than that of Chennai's.
