The Cincinnati Bengals gave defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo another chess piece to deploy while combating the quarterback-deep AFC and NFL by selecting pass-rusher Myles Murphy in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft.
That much is apparent by a quick viewing of Murphy’s highlights. At Clemson, Murphy used his superb athleticism and aggression to get after quarterbacks to the tune of 20 sacks, 10 quarterback hits, 66 quarterback hurries and five batted passes over three seasons.
Now that Murphy is officially in stripes after a heartfelt call from head coach Zac Taylor, it’s a great time to step back and look at some of his best college highlights and film breakdowns:
Myles Murphy is a big, twitchy, powerful edge rusher who is stout against the run and has juice as a pass rusher. He fits exactly what the Bengals like at the position.
He's only just begun to scratch the surface of his potential and show grow into a good starter. pic.twitter.com/0NJ9TM0QiJ
