Michigan State basketball opened the 2024-25 season with a convincing 81-57 win over Monmouth in front of a hometown Breslin Center crowd.
The win saw a variety of Spartans shine, but most notably, Jaden Akins provided a career high 23 points, while adding 9 rebounds. The only other Spartan in double figures was Jase Richardson, who added 10 points. Three Spartans ended with 9 points.
The win was exactly what MSU fans wanted in the season opener, convincing, but coming with clear things for Tom Izzo to fix.
