Watch former Rangers man Jake Hastie hit stunner for Hartlepool United in big friendly win

Jake Hastie grabbed a stunning goal for Hartlepool United as they ran out big winners against Billingham Synthonia at the weekend.

The Synners - who currently compete in Northern League Division Two, part of Step 6 in the non-league pyramid - lost out 6-0 to Paul Hartley's men as the former Hearts and Celtic star continues to prepare his troops for the new English League Two campaign.

The ex-Scotland international has been busy in the transfer market since his arrival at the Pools and has been no stranger to diving into the Scottish leagues to bring on board new recruits. One man who arrived this summer is former Motherwell and Rangers attacker Hastie. The 23-year-old arrives at his latest challenge with a point to prove after things didn't go to plan at Ibrox and he showed what he is capable of with a stunning long-range effort in the thumping friendly win.

After collecting the ball into his feet, he turned and ran towards goal before firing a stunning effort into the left hand side of the net, leaving the visiting goalkeeper with no chance.

He will be hoping to take that form into the coming period with four more friendlies on the agenda before the League Two opener at the end of the month against Walsall.

Speaking about his move to Hartlepool previously, he said: "This is an exciting move for me. I'm ready to push on and help the team the best way I can.

"I've seen a lot of videos and pictures of the fans and I can see they create an unbelievable atmosphere, I can't wait to get started."

Boss Hartley added: Delighted to get Jake in. Someone I’ve seen a lot of. He needs a change of scenery. Still a young lad.

"He needs a home and somewhere where someone can believe him.

"He’s got real pace. Very good in one on one situations and I know he will bring a lot of excitement."
