WATCH: Florida Cops Ram Patrol Car Into Man Riding Bicycle, Claim He Had a Gun

A Florida man has been arrested by law enforcement after allegedly attempting to evade them on his bicycle and then pulling out a gun, officials say.

Michael McDermott, 38, was spotted by a Flagler County deputy while on patrol on Jan. 4. McDermott, who was standing on the sidewalk next to his bicycle, was approached by the deputy, reported Fox 35.

According to the deputies present, McDermott attempted to evade them on his bicycle after they made contact with him, causing them to pursue him. He repeatedly stopped his bicycle, appearing to follow orders to stop, but then rode away each time law enforcement approached him.

As the deputy approached McDermott once again, the suspect appeared to pull a gun out of his pants, after which the deputy struck him with his vehicle, officials say.

McDermott was arrested and charged with assault or battery on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and eluding, resisting an officer with violence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
