On a play that shifted the momentum in favor of the Los Angeles Rams in Week 6, linebacker Ernest Jones put a huge hit on Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey. The hit came late in the first quarter and was the only defensive highlight generated by Los Angeles so far.
Check out the hit here, and notice how the WWE style wrap up kept McCaffrey from gaining first-down yardage:
A flag probably should've been thrown there. But former #Gamecock Ernest Jones just slammed CMC into the ground. pic.twitter.com/WiAsiU6ata

This is a must-win game for the Rams, so plays like this will be necessary for the team to get back to the .500 mark to salvage their poor start. Los Angeles’ defense has played reasonably well this season, but with the offense on the other side of the ball in free-fall, the unit will need to play even better to help the team get back on track.
Jones was a third-round pick in the 2021 draft and has made quite an impact for the Rams in his second year. This play will certainly make his highlight-reel and serves as a reminder that he will make ballcarriers pay when they run to his side.
