WATCH: Colts trick play featuring AD Mitchell, Tyler Goodson sets up scoring opportunity

As the Indianapolis Colts were working their way down the field before halftime, head coach Shane Steichen dialed up a trick play that featured AD Mitchell and Tyler Goodson.

From just inside the Jaguars 40-yard line and facing a 2nd-and-14, Joe Flacco took the snap from shotgun and immediately turned to his right to throw a screen to AD Mitchell. However, things were just getting started at that point.

Mitchell then threw the ball back across the field to Tyler Goodson who had several offensive linemen leading the way for him on what ended up being a 24 yard gain that put the Colts in the red zone.

Also, note the key block thrown right away by Quenton Nelson that allowed Goodson to get upfield.

Unfortunately, the Colts couldn’t move the ball after that play. On first down, Tyler Goodson had a zero yard gain. On second down, Flacco threw short to Trey Sermon for no gain, and on third down, Flacco couldn’t connect with Mitchell in the end zone.

The Colts ended up settling for a 30 yard field goal from Matt Gay to tie the game.

Just before halftime, Flacco is 16-of-19 passing for 120 yards with a touchdown. Goodson and Sermon have combined for 35 rushing yards, while Josh Downs leads the team in receiving with 48 yards.
