The Kansas City Chiefs have earned an early lead over the New England Patriots in Week 15 after veteran running back Jerick McKinnon found rookie receiver Rashee Rice for a touchdown on one of Andy Reid’s signature trick plays near the goal line.
The scoring play occurred late in the first quarter after a long gain by Clyde Edwards-Helaire on a screen got Kansas City into the red zone. Set up near the goal line, McKinnon received a direct snap from center Creed Humphrey, faked a run to the left, and flipped the ball to Rice who was working against the grain back to the right.

The Chiefs have struggled in the red zone at times this season, and plays like this will serve to get the team back in rhythm ahead of January’s AFC playoffs.
Expect Reid and the rest of Kansas City’s coaching staff to continue getting creative in crucial situations to get points on the scoreboard.
