La’Mical Perine has quietly put together an exceptional preseason resume with the Kansas City Chiefs in August and might be the front-runner to land a spot as the team’s fourth running back ahead of September’s regular season kickoff.
He ripped off an exceptional run in the first quarter of Kansas City’s preseason finale against the Cleveland Browns, gaining 30 yards to help the Chiefs offense get back on track after going down by 19 points early in the game.

This play could go a long way toward helping the Chiefs come back from the three-score deficit in the second quarter and may help build momentum for Kansas City before halftime.
While it won’t count toward his regular-season stats, efforts like this are a great sign for the Chiefs’ backfield as the team’s coaching staff assesses their options for the 2023 campaign. Though Perine isn’t a household name at this point in his career, he’ll have a chance to contribute to the NFL’s most feared offense if he earns a spot on Kansas City’s 53-man roster.
