The season-ending BWF World Tour Badminton Finals are now officially underway as 40 players and pairs battle it out to win titles across five categories — men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.
It was another action-packed day in China as world No. 1 Shi Yuqi cruised to a 21-14, 21-18 victory against Chou Tien-chen of Chinese Taipei to reach the final. The Chinese shuttler will play top-seed Anders Antonsen who battled past Jonatan Christie 21-6, 15-21, 21-13.
In the women's singles, China's Wang Zhi Yi ended Olympic champion An Seyoung's title defence and will now play compatriot Han Yue in the final after she defeated Japan’s Ohori Aya 21-17, 21-13.
There was some disappointment for the home fans on Saturday as Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan lost to the Japanese pair of Matsuyama Nami and Shida Chiharu who will now play Baek Ha Na and Lee So Hee in the women's doubles final.
