Watch Ben Doak continue post Celtic form as Liverpool youngster scores on Scotland U21s debut

Ben Doak has scored on his debut for the Scotland U21s side as the Liverpool kid continues to show why he won a move to England from Celtic.

The winger came off the bench for Scot Gemmill's team as they strolled to a convincing 3-1 victory over Northern Ireland away from home. Kieron Bowie opened up the scoring before the Celtic academy graduate raced through on goal, nutmegging the goalkeeper to double his side's lead.

He had replaced Hearts defender Lewis Neilson who pulled up with an injury and Dundee's Josh Mulligan finished off navy blue scoring for the day. Chris McKee scored a consolation for Northern Ireland ahead of the return leg in this friendly series on Sunday at St Mirren's SMISA Stadium. It was Doak though who shone brighter than most on the pitch during what was a fine display by the elite Scotland youth side.

Doak was given his Celtic debut by Ange Postecoglou and played in a derby with Rangers earlier this year, but it wasn't enough to keep him at Parkhead.

Liverpool signed him up and he's continued his progression in Merseyside, scoring in the UEFA Youth League for the side managed at senior level by Jurgen Klopp.

Previously, the teenager who turns 17 in November represented the country and U16s and U17s level.
