Watch as volcano erupts in spectacular explosion of water and ash in the Philippines

Video footage captures an eruption at the main crater of Taal Volcano in the Philippines, sending a towering plume of ash and steam around 1,200 metres into the sky.

The country's seismology agency said the dark grey steam and ash plumes consisting of three pulses, lasted for four and a half minutes and generated volcanic emissions visible from nearby communities, before drifting to the southwest.

Despite the activity on 30 June,, authorities kept Taal at Alert Level 1, indicating low-level volcanic unrest with no immediate threat of a major eruption.
