Watch as Jason Cummings fluffs his lines in bold penalty move

This is the bizarre moment that Jason Cummings fluffed his lines with a bold penalty attempt.

The former Hibernian and Rangers striker stepped up to score from the spot during Mohun Bagan's AFC Cup tie against Maziya earlier today. However, what followed only Cumdog knows what he was doing.

The 28-year-old Australia international had already scored in the match to give the Indian Super League side the lead.

He was then afforded the chance to double his tally, though, but could not take it.

Footage widely shared on social media this evening showed the ex-Dundee forward attempt to cleverly pass the ball to a teammate to tap in after fooling the goalkeeper.

Unfortunately for Cummings, he also fooled his own teammates. They were clearly not on the same wavelength as the ball was cleared by the defence following the strange lay-off.

Johan Cruyff famously pulled off the penalty assist, and others have managed it too such as Lionel Messi and Luis Saurez at Barcelona.

Others such as Robert Pires and Thierry Henry complicated matters, much to the anger of Arsene Wenger back in the Highbury days at Arsenal. Cummings has joined their esteemed company.

The striker would go on to grab a second in the match and atone for his error, which ultimately proved to be the winner for Mohun Bagan in the 92nd minute.

Meanwhile, Frank Lampard insists he is enjoying some time away from football amid speculation linking him with the vacant Rangers job.

The former England midfielder has been out of work since his time as interim boss of Chelsea last season.

The Blues legend was placed in temporary charge of the club after they sacked Graham Potter in April. He had previously managed the club on a permanent basis after an impressive season at Derby County. Last January he lost his job at Everton.

Reports have suggested that he may well be interested in throwing his name into the hat for the Ibrox manager role following Michael Beale's departure.
