Watch as ex-Celtic star scores ninth goal in seven games following summer exit

Martin O'Neill wanted to keep Kelechi Iheanacho at Celtic - and the striker has been showing why ever since.

The Nigerian scored in Bursaspor's 2-2 draw with Erokspor at the weekend, and that took his tally to a remarkable nine in seven games to start his time in Turkey.

With his side challenging at the top of the second tier, Iheanacho's goals have helped propel them there ever since starting the legue campaign off with a goal and assist against Bodrum FK.

He has since scored in every single game, including doubles in wins over Instanbulspor and Manisa FK.

A defeat to Karagumruk and the weekend's draw are the only games Bursaspor haven't won.

It comes after a bit of a summer saga involving the 29-year-old and Celtic over the summer.

After signing him on a short-term deal early last season, the club had an option to extend that but missed the deadline by which they could trigger it.

However, O'Neill remained keen to keep the player as part of his squad after a telling contribution to last season's double, and said as much in the media.

However, a deal couldn't be agreed and reports suggested the Turkish second tier side had offered him £47,000 a week.

It has proved to be a smart signing regardless as he hits the goal trail.

His strike at the weekend involved a lovely piece of skill after being played into the box, a Cruyff-turn pirouette taking him away from a defender before he finished at the goalkeeper's near post.
