Victor Wembanyama has been the talk of the NBA this season, and although the rookie big man has struggled at times, he has shown glimpses of his immense potential.
On Wednesday, he and his San Antonio Spurs hosted the Los Angeles Lakers and another big man who was a No. 1 pick in the draft years ago — Anthony Davis.
Despite tweaking his ankle just after the opening tip, Davis was red-hot and continued his dominant play of late. He outplayed Wembanyama, who put up some nice numbers of his own, with 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting in the first half.
At one point, Davis gave Wembanyama his “welcome to the NBA” moment by throwing down a thunderous dunk over him, and Davis let out a primal yell afterward.
