Watch Ángela Aguilar Win the 'Woman of the Year' Award from Glamour Magazine

In Spanish

Despite the drama and thousands of signatures against her, Ángela Aguilar received the Woman of the Year award from Glamour magazine. The gala took place on November 13 in Mexico City, where the youngest member of the Aguilar dynasty took the stage to accept her award in the 'Regional Music Award' category.

Although rumors circulated that she might not attend and that her title could be revoked, Ángela surprised everyone by not only appearing at the event but arriving with her husband, Christian Nodal.

Taking the stage, Ángela began her speech by thanking Glamour, especially Farah Slim, the magazine's editor-in-chief for Mexico and Latin America. She expressed gratitude for being considered for the award and for the advice Farah gave her amidst the recent wave of negative comments.

"I am very grateful to be here tonight. Thank you to Glamour for this incredible recognition, and thank you, Farah, for your support, words of advice, and for believing in me, in my talent, in my music," Ángela said upon receiving her award.

She went on to reflect on the privilege of being born into a family of singers who helped her become the artist she is today, acknowledging it as a unique privilege to represent the mariachi genre.

Ángela highlighted that music isn't just her passion—it's a way to represent Mexico, which she sees as both an honor and a profound responsibility.

"The real privilege was being able to enter Mexican music feeling supported by mariachi and the values, traditions, and culture it carries. I don't take this honor lightly; that's why every time I step on stage, I do my best to represent Mexico, the country that has given me so much and that I love deeply. Being here tonight is not only a great privilege but also a huge responsibility," Ángela expressed.

Emotionally moved, Ángela took the opportunity to thank her family, husband, friends, and especially "all the women who paved the way for me to be here tonight."

She concluded her speech with an empowering message to women and girls listening, encouraging them to never silence their voices and to pursue their dreams despite adversity.

"I only wanted to be a singer, and thanks to all of you, I'm achieving that... If I could give one piece of advice—and I'm in no position to do so—I want you to never silence your voice. Always be genuinely yourself. Take control of your story and your identity," Ángela said, representing the regional Mexican genre with pride.

With her head held high, Ángela attended the gala backed by Glamour, her family, and loved ones, undeterred by online petitions and hate comments calling for her award to be revoked. After her brief stop in Mexico City, the 21-year-old singer is now preparing for the Latin Grammys in Miami, where she's also competing in the Album of the Year category with her record 'Bolero.'
