Watch: Agha Salman suffers freak injury while batting against India

NEW DELHI: In an unfortunate turn of events, Pakistan middle-order batter Agha Salman suffered a nasty injury on his face while batting against India during the Asia Cup Super 4 match in Colombo on Monday.

Salman got hit while attempting a paddle-sweep as the ball hit his right cheek, just below the eye.

The incident took place on the final ball of the 21st over when Ravindra Jadeja bowled a fuller length delivery. Salman, who was wearing a cap and not a helmet, tried to guide the ball to fine-leg but got the top edge of his bat. The ball then hit Salman straight on the cheek and the cut was instantly visible.

As Salman started to bleed, keeper KL Rahul was quick to check on him while the Pakistan team physio rushed to the middle.

The physio fortunately managed to stop the bleeding and patched up the cut as Salman resumed batting with a bit of swelling under his right eye.

Post the injury, Salman did put on the helmet but his stay in the middle didn't last long as Kuldeep Yadav got him for 23 in the 24th over.
