Watch a Motorcyclist Crash Into an Open City Bus Door and Catch a Ride

Listen, I know it's sometimes difficult to time catching public transportation perfectly. As a former Chicagoan, and someone who tried and failed to use public transit in Los Angeles, getting everything right all the time is a Herculean task at times. But you have to know when to call it quits, too. No late appointment is worth broken bones.

I jest as I know the individual in the above video is, thankfully, OK. But still, maybe slow down?

What I'm talking about is the above security footage, both from outside a Colombian city bus, as well as inside the bus itself, of a motorcyclist apparently running a red light and crashing smack dab into the bus's open doors, basically switching from private to public transit in less than a second flat.

Again, the motorcyclist is OK, but that could've been so much worse.

According to our friends over at Jalopnik, the incident occurred in Buga, Columbia, with the whole scene being captured by a cafe's security footage, as well as the security camera within the bus. As you can see in the video, just before the crash, another motorcyclist comes to a stop at the intersection, presumably allowing the bus to go through unimpeded. That, however, doesn't happen, as a second motorcyclist comes into frame, doesn't slow down, and crashes at high speed into the bus's open door.

From there, the footage switches to inside the bus, where we see an unhelmeted motorcyclist yeet themselves into the opposing side of the bus, and crash headfirst into the wall, before coming to a stop half in the seat and half in the walkway of the bus. Somehow, the motorcyclist is not only OK, but managed to get off the bus, try and pick up their bike, then walk off like nothing had happened, leaving a very broken and battered motorcycle, and bus, in their wake.

It's unclear whether or not the motorcyclist was later found, but maybe next time, stop at an intersection, and also wait until the bus comes to a full and complete stop before trying to get on.
