Wasserman Boxing's Kalle Sauerland tips Chloe Watson for M&S Bank Arena title shot

Wasserman Boxing chief Kalle Sauerland has high hopes for Birkenhead flyweight Chloe Watson as she moved 3-0 in her professional boxing career with a win over Fara El Bousairi at the M&S Bank Arena.

The 22-year-old was the final bout of the night on Wasserman Boxing card which saw Nathan Gorman beat Tomas Salek to win the vacant IBF International Heavyweight title. Josh Kelly, who was the co-main event, made his return to the ring with a fourth-round TKO against Peter Kramer.

Despite closing the show, Watson ensured the night was topped off with fireworks as she went toe-to-toe with the Spaniard. Under the guise of legendary boxer Ricky Hatton, she added another win to her tally with her points win over El Bousairi.

Boxing promoter Sauerland was complimentary of the youth Commonwealth gold medallist and detailed his ambitions of taking Watson to glory. He told the ECHO: "(I'm) Delighted for Chloe Watson, that’s a real local princess who can become a queen, what a fantastic fighter, her third pro fight.

"I think Chloe could really grow and fill this arena one day with a world title I really believe that and that’s the sort of thing I get inspired by and I’ve ticked a few boxes on what I want to do in boxing as a promoter but Liverpool is one on my to-do list. We have Callum fight here, it wasn’t for a world title but it was on the way there, tried it with Pricey - had a chat with him tonight.

"I’ve got to make one scouser a world champion… I have actually f***ing Rocky Fielding but he came over and nicked the belt - I helped him but it wasn’t mine he took it away from me.

"... Chloe, we want to work with her long term, she’s a talent. We’ve got a long history and pedigree of developing female world champions, Cecilia Brækhus, one of the first unified world champions we took her from a small town in Norway and made her into a world champion.

"Chloe’s obviously from a far more pedigree background than Cecilia was at the time but I guess one of Chloe’s idols will be Cecilia Braekhus so I can vision… it’s her third pro fight, fantastic."
