After a truly special season, one of college football’s best wide receivers is off to the professional ranks.
Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze is declaring for the 2024 NFL draft, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Friday morning.
Odunze, 21, earned consensus All-America recognition after a season in which he caught 92 passes for 1,640 yards and 13 touchdowns. The Bishop Gorman (Nev.) High School product teamed up with quarterback Michael Penix Jr. to lead the Huskies to the Pac-12 title, a Sugar Bowl victory, and a berth in the College Football Playoff national championship game.
It’s widely expected that Odunze will be one of the first receivers off the board in the draft.
Odunze, who had another year of eligibility remaining, teased Oregon fans on social media Wednesday by telling them he “might come back for another year” if they weren’t “nice” to him.
The receiver’s career marks of 3,272 yards, 214 catches and 24 touchdowns rank second, second and third in school history, respectively.
