Just a few weeks ago, the Washington Commanders were the most hyped team in the NFL.
They pulled off a miracle hail-mary victory against the Chicago Bears in week 8.

However, the last two weeks have not gone Washington’s way. They lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in week 10 and lost a critical divisional matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football in week 11. Washington is no longer in first in the NFC East.
After dropping two straight, the Washington Commanders are currently seventh in the NFC and are in danger of missing the postseason entirely.
Below, we discuss whether the Washington Commanders can still win the NFC East and if they are in danger of missing the playoffs.
Can The Washington Commanders Still Win The NFC East?
The Washington Commanders took on the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football. First place in the division was on the line and the Eagles were victorious on the road.
For some time this season, the Washington Commanders were in first in the division but have slipped the last two weeks.
The Eagles are 3-0 against divisional opponents and have won six straight. Philly is red-hot and looking like a serious threat to make it to the Super Bowl. The Eagles defeated each team in the division once and will face each team again once more.
Washington is 2-1 in the division with two wins vs the New York Giants. They lost to the Eagles and still will play them once more, the next one being in Washington. The Commanders play Dallas twice this season, one of their matchups being in week 12 and the other in week 18.
With the Eagles flying high lately, it will be tough for the Commanders to catch them in the division.
It is unlikely the Commanders win the NFC East after losing to Philly on Thursday Night Football.
Are The Commanders In Danger Of Missing The Playoffs?
How things change in the NFL so quickly. Just two weeks ago, the Washington Commanders seemed like a lock to make the playoffs when they were 7-2.
Now, at 7-4, the Commanders are seventh in the NFC. The biggest worry for the Commanders is the San Francisco 49ers are 5-4 and just got Christian McCaffrey back. The 49ers will heat up and get in the playoffs.
Arizona is 6-4 and playing very well. They have a bye week in week 11. The Cardinals are in first in the NFC West. If Arizona wins the division, the 49ers will fight for a wild-card spot, along with the Packers and Vikings. Minnesota is 7-2 and Green Bay is 6-3. The Lions are 8-1 and will likely win the division.
This does not leave a lot of room for error for Washington. With Arizona playing well, the 49ers getting healthier, and the Vikings and Packers playing well, and having a good team, this makes it challenging for the Washington Commanders to make the playoffs.
The Washington Commanders are in danger of missing the postseason entirely, after a strong start to the season.
