Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota has found a new home with the Atlanta Falcons, agreeing to terms on a two-year contract in the wake of Atlanta trading away Matt Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts.
But the attention after the announcement of the move was briefly focused on Mariota’s former Titans teammate, wide receiver A.J. Brown, who tweeted “Best leader I ever been around” in reaction to Mariota signing with Atlanta.
Of course, some people will instantly take this as a somewhat veiled dig at his current quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, but I highly doubt that was what Brown was going for in his now-deleted tweet.
Instead, this was Brown simply trying to offer high praise of his former Titans teammate, who has no doubt been through the ringer since being drafted by Tennessee as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft.
In short: nothing to see here, folks; keep it moving. Brown is way too good of a teammate and human being overall to take a shot like that.
As for Mariota, he now gets another fresh start and an opportunity to start after the Falcons traded away their long-time quarterback. We wish him nothing but the best in his new home.
