Warwick Davis says he and his wife will 'never get over' the death of his first son

Warwick Davis has spoken out about how deeply he and his wife were impacted by the death of their first child.

The actor, 52, and his wife Samantha, 51, lost their son Lloyd when he was just nine days old. Like both of his parents, he also had dwarfism, which caused complications from birth.

Speaking to People magazine, Warwick said that he will "never get over" the death of his son in 1991.

"I think it brings you closer together, or something like that, but it's an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone, it's devastating.

"You do learn to live with it, eventually, over time, you're able to better understand why it happened and can come to terms with it a bit more, but you never get over it."

"I think the losses shaped our family dynamic, we love Annabelle and Harrison all that more because they're here with us," he explained.

After the tragedy, Samantha miscarried at 20 weeks in 1993, which meant they loss a second baby - who they named George.

He said that he and the family will always remember George and Lloyd and "grateful" for having them in their lives - even if it was for such a painfully short time.

The Harry Potter star said that the sadness they faced made them stronger as a couple.

Speaking on Bear Grylls' television show Bear's Mission in 2018, he said: "Prior to Annabelle and Harrison we had a baby boy, Lloyd, who inherited both our conditions… and that is something that proves fatal.

"It's something that a baby won't survive. But Lloyd he lived for survived for nine days, but yeah he was beautiful… but it was a tough time. And yeah, we had a stillborn too."

Warwick was born with a rare condition, which is a form of dwarfism, called spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita (SED), where the ends of bones fail to form.

Children with SEDs often have vision and hearing problems. Both of Warwick's children both inherited their dad's condition.

They are both aspiring actors and appeared in Harry Potter, just like their dad. Sam has a different form of dwarfism called achondroplasia.
