Warriors to avoid LeBron James in matchup against the Lakers

The Golden State Warriors‘ All-Star break is over. They will face the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday. However, in a boost to their chances, Golden State will not be tasked with guarding LeBron James. He is sitting out the contest to continue managing a left ankle injury.

LeBron has found himself in the media spotlight over the past week after rumors surfaced detailing Golden State’s attempts to bring him to the Bay Area ahead of the Feb. 8 trade deadline. Of course, the attempt was unsuccessful. Nevertheless, his absence from the Lakers rotation will be a boost for Steve Kerr‘s team.

After all, the Warriors are aiming to claw their way into the postseason and are likely aiming to avoid a potentially treacherous play-in tournament.

Golden State will be without a core member of its rotation. Chris Paul continues to work his way back to full fitness and isn’t expected to participate in Thursday’s game. Still, Golden State’s chances of success look significantly higher without LeBron on the other side of the court.
