Following an exit from a contest on Jan. 9 against the Cleveland Cavaliers after seven seconds, Draymond Green missed the next 25 games due to a lower back/disc injury.
After missing a significant chunk of games, the four-time All-Star’s long-awaited return to the court could be on the way. On Monday, Green announced on his podcast “The Draymond Green Show” that he’s targeting March 14 against the Washington Wizards as his potential return date.
I am projecting, or targeting, my return next Monday the 14th vs. the Wizards. That is the date that I am targeting. I’m excited as hell, it’s been two and a half months — almost two and a half months — two months for sure — almost two and a half by the time I play. I’ve never missed that much time during the season. I once had an ankle injury that kept me out for a very long time in high school, but it was the offseason. This is something different for me. So, I’m extremely excited to get back out there with my guys to try to help right this ship.

For the Warriors, Green’s return couldn’t come any sooner. Without Green, the Warriors have posted a 16-16 record on the season. With Green in the lineup, the Warriors are 27-6.
Green’s return could help anchor Golden State’s defense that has struggled without him. The Warriors have given up 122 or more points in four consecutive games. Golden State is also currently riding a season-high five-game losing streak.
During the 2021-22 campaign, Green earned an All-Star bid, averaging 7.9 points on 53.7% shooting from the field with 7.6 rebounds and 7.4 assists in 29.9 minutes per game.
Before his return to court, the Warriors will face a tough three-game stretch against the Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets and Milwaukee Bucks.
