Warriors’ Andrew Wiggins Not Expected to Return During Regular Season

Warriors star Andrew Wiggins has not suited up for the team since Feb. 13 while dealing with a family matter as his father battles a “serious medical condition.” The forward has missed the last 22 games for Golden State, but returned to be with the team earlier this week.

With just two games remaining in the regular season, head coach Steve Kerr indicated the 28-year-old would not be back in game action before the playoffs.

Speaking on 95.7 The Game, Kerr said that Wiggins won’t play during the Warriors’ final two games of the year, and will instead focus on ramping up his strength and conditioning for the team’s playoff run.

“[Andrew Wiggins] is not going to play in these final two games of the regular season. He’ll continue to work and ramp it up pretty quickly,” said Kerr via Willard and Dibs.

Kerr stressed the importance of not putting Wiggins in a “bad spot health-wise,” before making his return to the team after nearly a two-month absence.

The Warriors are on the road for their final two games of the year, slated for matchups against the Kings and Trail Blazers.

Wiggins has featured in 37 games for Golden State this season, posting averages of 17.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists while shooting a career-high 39.6 percent from three-point range.
