A warning has been issued to TransPennine Express (TPE) passengers ahead of a government takeover of the train operator.
The company, which runs services between Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and parts of Scotland will be brought under government control from May 28 following months of cancellations. Transport Secretary Mark Harper said last week: "This is not a silver bullet and will not instantaneously fix a number of challenges being faced."
The rail operator has now confirmed its final timetable change which will come into force on Sunday, May 21, with passengers being warned to check in advance if they will be affected by the changes.

TPE said while there will be no major changes to its services when the next timetable is introduced, there will be some minor changes which will affect train times for some customers. This includes changes to some services between Liverpool and Newcastle.
The operator will be run by Operator of Last Resort on behalf of the Department for Transport from May 28.
Kathryn O’Brien, Customer Service and Operations Director at TransPennine Express, said: “We are planning to make some minor changes to our current timetable next month and are encouraging customers to check their journeys taking place from 21 May onwards.”
Kathryn added: “Our number one focus is providing the most reliable and punctual service possible for customers, and we continue to prioritise this following the recent disruption which has impacted some of those using our trains.
“Our priority is delivering a train service people can depend on whether it’s getting them to work, school or an important appointment.”
Customers should check their journeys using National Rail Enquiries or via the TPE website.
