Drivers are being targeted by scammers, with 3,000 motorists already losing thousands of pounds.
With car prices rising, many scammers are out to try and con you to get your car or steal your details. Many motorists have already been caught out by the latest elaborate scam with fake car dealership websites defrauding people out of their money.
According to Action Fraud the number of people being conned is growing. Last year there were 3,000 reports of online fraud from UK drivers - a 21% rise compared to 2019.

A BBC investigation recently revealed just how easy it is to fall for such scams. The investigation exposed a fake car dealership website that defrauded people out of thousands of pounds as Pietro Pagliuca from West Yorkshire told the BBC how he transferred almost £4,000 to a legitimate-sounding company for a second-hand Nissan Qashqai, reported Birmingham Live.
He even chatted with someone saying they were a sales director before parting with his cash - and he even saw what he thought was a company stamp on the invoice they sent him. But he was scammed.
The scam involves people posing as a legitimate car dealership online and tricks people to hand over their money. The scammers also set up websites that look convincing but are completely fake.
