Warning over Covid jab protection 'waning' as hospital admissions set to increase

Health experts have warned that Covid cases and hospitalisations are set to continue rising throughout the summer due to “a substantial amount of waning immunity”.

The numbers of patients testing positive for Covid-19 admitted to intensive care has risen for the second week running to the highest level since mid-April.

Patient levels are approaching the peak reached during the last wave of Covid infections during the spring, with total hospital admission also on the increase.
