Warning for Dublin walkers after accident on sea wall

The Irish Coast Guard has warned the public to be careful when walking on walls or rocks near the water.

Their advice comes after a walker was rushed to hospital following a nasty slip yesterday.

They were strolling on the sea wall opposite Blackrock park when they tripped and fell.

Paramedics and the Coast Guard team raced to the scene and treated the person with pain medication.

An ambulance later brought them to hospital.

Irish Coast Guard posted: "Member of public had slipped on sea wall opposite Blackrock park and requiring Coast Guard & medical assistance.

"Coast Guard team tasked to incident along with National Ambulance Service (NAS) Paramedics. Casualty was located by team & Paramedics who provided pain relieve treatment and was assisted to ambulance for further treatment in hospital.

"Please be careful when walking on walls or rocks beside the water, as they can be extremely slippy under foot and could possibly lead to a serious injury.

"Remember if you see anyone in difficulty in or near the water, dial 112/999 or VHF channel 16 immediately and ask for the Coast Guard."
