Warning for dog owners of flesh-eating disease which can happen after muddy walks

These are the signs of a flesh-eating disease which can be potentially fatal to dogs.

Alabama Rot, which is known as Cutaneous and Renal Glomerular Vasculopathy (CRGV), damages the blood vessels in the skin and kidneys in dogs. It causes visible sores on the skin and and can lead to severe organ dysfunction and ultimately kidney failure.

Last year the ECHO reported how a beloved Cocker Spaniel died suddenly from what the owners were told was Alabama Rot. Rebecca Fox and her husband James were holidaying near Delamere Forest with their dogs in mid-May last year and had also visited beaches in North Wales.
