Emergency services have issued a warning to parents in one part of England after a viral social media trend appears to have prompted numerous call-outs over the past month. Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service (MFRS) revealed that staff have been called to 18 incidents involving kids and teens trapped in playground equipment since the start of April - with 14 of these taking place in May alone.
And according to the service, they all involved people becoming caught in baby and infant swings in playgrounds and unable to free themselves. It is believed the teens became trapped trying to emulate a "challenge" seen on social media platform TikTok.
According to the Liverpool Echo, fire services across the UK spoke out last year about the number of 999 calls they had received to assist people in similar situations, with the craze now seeming to have reached Merseyside. The majority of the incidents attended by MFRS involved young people between the ages of 11 and 15.
