Brisbane will be forced to reinvent themselves yet again after Jesse Wardlaw and Lulu Pullar confirmed they will seek AFLW trades.
The pair's decision follows the defection of Emily Bates and Greta Bodey to Hawthorn, robbing the Lions of two current All-Australians and a former league best and fairest.
It continues a familiar tale for inaugural coach Craig Starcevich, who has continually rebuilt a squad that has been picked apart by rivals in the expanding competition.
The Lions have defied that though, making four of the six grand finals contested since the competition's 2017 arrival.
The sign-and-trade period begins on Friday, with the Lions still to learn what compensation they will receive for losing star duo Bates and Bodey.
Wardlaw, who has been linked to St Kilda, kicked 22 goals last season to lead the competition and played a key role in the Lions' maiden premiership in 2021.
"Jesse has been a very valued member of the Brisbane Lions, coming up through the ranks via our Academy," Lions head of women's football Breeanna Brock said.
"As a home-grown talent, we would have loved Jesse to remain with the Lions.
"On behalf of everyone at Brisbane, I would like to thank Jesse for everything she has done for our club, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours."
Defender Pullar was drafted in 2021 and played 14 games for the Lions, with the 24-year-old judged the best first-year player in 2022.
"Lulu has indicated to the club she is seeking to continue her football career at another AFLW club whilst also taking employment opportunities in Melbourne," Brock said.
"We wish her every success in her next chapter, not only with her football career but as a first-year doctor as well."
The Lions also confirmed Gabby Collingwood, Ava Seton and Maggie Harmer would not be offered contracts for next season.
