Iran's 'terrorist regime' an 'intolerable threat,' Trump says as he outlines war aims

We're ending our live coverage now of day three of tracking developments in the Middle East and the ongoing Iran war.

Monday saw the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah enter the fray with tit-for-tat exchanges with the Israeli military, a stark reminder of the daily strikes the two sides exchanged over two years during the war in Gaza.

The day also saw US President Donald Trump slamming the "intolerable threat" posed by the Iranian regime as he outlined his main reasons for beginning Operation Epic Fury.

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of travellers remain stranded across the Gulf region with most countries' airspaces remaining closed, although a handful of flights did depart from the airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi late on Monday.

Thanks for being with us and our teams will be back with all the latest first thing on Tuesday morning.
