Want to cut your food bill? Try crouching down in the aisle!

At a time when food bills are soaring, did you know that crouching down in a supermarket can help you cut costs?

With people up and down the country struggling to pay their bills while eating three meals a day, moneysavingexpert.com ’s genius tips can help you to make big savings - and one that really caught my attention was that crouching down in the supermarket will save you loads of money.

I am the What's On Writer for MyLondon.news, and I decided to put that to the test. I set off for my local Asda where, greatly bolstered by the spirit of Martin Lewis, I set off to the fruit and veg first. The tomatoes at the top of the shelf cost £1.20 but identical ones were at the bottom for £1. The cucumbers let me down by all costing 45p and by the time I'd grabbed milk - which all cost 99p - my tomato triumph felt like it happened to someone else. Then I went to get butter. My usual is Lurpak spreadable, which cost £2.20. Dutifully following the money-saving tips I looked down and nestled at the very bottom of the shelf was Asda's own brand butter for only £1.
