WANdisco secures £7.2m contract with unnamed industrial and consumer goods client

Sheffield tech firm WANdisco has secured a £7.2m contract to provide data services to a global brand.

The data management and software specialist told the London Stock Exchange it has signed an initial agreement to provide a one-off migration of data from the unnamed client's European and Asian data centres to cloud providers. WANdisco told investors it was chosen for the work thanks to its ability to migrate huge petabyte scale data.

The contract involves moving data created by the clients manufacturing and management activities. WANdisco says the manufacturing sector has become a target market for its services and expects to see further sales in the space.

David Richards, CEO and chairman of WANdisco, said: "This is the first company to choose WANdisco's solutions to migrate manufacturing process data at scale, utilising our unique ability to seamlessly and securely migrate large scale data from on-premise platforms to the cloud.

"Moving data from on-premise platforms to the cloud is continuing to drive a significant pipeline of opportunities for our business. Companies across multiple industry verticals face significant challenges in successfully executing this data movement and unlocking the full capabilities of the cloud. Our unique solutions, the cloud agnostic nature of our technology and our proven experience in moving data seamlessly at scale make us well placed to continue winning market share and supporting global clients in these use cases."
