A man is fighting for his life after a shooting in front of terrified revellers at a party hotspot in east London.
Police rushed to reports of gunfire in the warehouse district on Blackhorse Lane at 10.45pm on Saturday night.
They found a 22-year-old victim suffering a critical injury to the abdomen in the attack on the industrial estate full of hip breweries and party venues.
One resident told the Standard: “There were just lots of people hanging around.
“It seems to be the newest spot for violence. A boy was stabbed on my bus a few months ago on the same road.”
She added: “I have no idea which venue it was but it was down near the breweries. We are just hoping he pulls through.”
Stella Creasy, MP for Walthamstow, shared a police update on the “serious violence incident”.
She said: “Upon arrival officers identified one male with gunshot wounds to the abdomen, amongst a large crowd that were present.”
The MP who hosted a meeting with concerned residents, added: “The victim remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital. I can confirm the victim was visiting the area and resides outside of Waltham Forest.
“The scene is fairly large, covering approximately 200 metres and will remain in place for specialist search officers and forensic recovery, this is likely to be in place until tomorrow.”
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Detectives from Specialist Crime are investigating supported by colleagues from the North East Command Unit.
“Cordons are in place in and around Blackhorse Lane as forensic examination of the scene continues.”
There have been no arrests, the force said.
