Boticelli Foods of Melville, New York, is recalling one lot of bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter due to possible Salmonella contamination, according to an official announcement posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on August 3, 2026.

FDA Announces Walmart Pistachio Nut Butter Recall

The recalled product is a 6.7-ounce (190g) glass jar of bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter with UPC 194346207961 and Lot Code LB028ACP04, carrying an expiration date of January 28, 2027. Only this single lot is subject to the recall; no other lots of the product are affected.

The product was manufactured by Gustibus Alimentari Srl of Assoro, Italy, imported by Botticelli, and distributed exclusively through Walmart stores. It was sold at Walmart retail locations in 19 states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Washington, and Wyoming.

The recall was triggered after Walmart learned on July 17, 2026, that the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services had detected Salmonella in three jars of the product during a routine inspection at a Walmart store. No illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with the product as of the announcement date.

Why Salmonella Can Be Dangerous

According to the FDA announcement, Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, elderly individuals, and people with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals who contract Salmonella may experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the bacteria can enter the bloodstream and lead to more severe conditions.

What Walmart Shoppers Should Do Next

Shoppers who purchased bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter with Lot Code LB028ACP04 are urged not to eat the product and to return it to the Walmart store where it was purchased for a full refund. This is relevant to bargain shoppers and Walmart regulars in the listed states who may have picked up this item.

Consumers with questions can contact Boticelli Foods by email at quality@botticellifoods.com or by phone at 631-543-7000, extension 203, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EDT. The recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Readers should verify their specific product details — including lot code and UPC — directly with the FDA or the company to confirm whether their purchase is affected.
