Football fever has reached the crisp aisle as Walkers unveils a range of limited-edition flavours inspired by the FIFA Men’s World Cup 2026.
The crisps giant is celebrating the upcoming tournament with a new line-up of flavours, including English Bangers and Mash, Walkers Wavy Spanish Queso, and Walkers Max Portuguese Chorizo and Onion.
But it's the Bangers and Mash flavour that has caused the biggest stir online, with social media users divided over whether mashed potato should be turned into a crisp.
And Walkers isn’t the only brand getting in on the World Cup action.
Doritos is launching a new Mexican Beef Tacos flavour inspired by the tournament hosts, while Wotsits Golden Balls are getting a football-themed makeover with a new Smokin’ Cheese flavour.
The limited-edition snacks are set to land on shelves ahead of the tournament, but will only be around for a short while.
They are available to buy from now until August 7.
Buyers will also have the chance to win instant prizes, including merch, with two grand prizes of £10,000 up for grabs.
Rob Pothier, portfolio marketing director at Walkers, said: “With crisps a classic choice when watching sport, the FIFA World Cup 2026 is a key calendar moment for retailers to drive category growth. The activity across our core range, supported by a standout on-pack activation, aims to support retailers in achieving exactly that.
“What’s more, Walkers’ new limited-edition flavours, which capture the essence of the tournament with their global inspiration, will give shoppers more matchday choice and help retailers tap into football fever this summer.”
He added: “Football is a team game and by including Doritos Mexican Beef Taco and Wotsits Golden Balls, we’re bringing even more excitement to snacks fixtures for retailers, and big football fixtures for fans.”
