Mystery surrounds the deaths of two middle-aged men whose bodies were found in a Tyneside home
The men, who the Chronicle understands were friends, were both found dead at a property on Welbeck Road, in Walker, Newcastle, on Friday afternoon.
Police say they went to check on the 59-year-old and 60-year-old after it was reported that they had not been seen for some time and had failed to attend a number of appointments.

Neighbours say they saw officers force entry to the home before two bodies were later carried out. Police have been at the home since Friday as the investigation into the deaths continues.
Locals said forensics officers were working at the property over the weekend, and plain-clothed detectives were were at the scene today. Yet still how the two men came to die in the same home at the same time remains a mystery.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman confirmed the deaths were being treated as "unexplained".
She said: "At 2pm on Friday, officers received a report of concern for the welfare of two men who had failed to attend appointments and had not been seen for a period of time.
“Police subsequently attended an address on Welbeck Road in Walker. Sadly the men, aged 59 and 60, were found to be deceased.
“Their deaths are being treated as unexplained at this time and enquiries are ongoing. Their next of kin have been notified and our thoughts are with them at this time.”
Today neighbours have told of their horror at seeing two bodies being removed from the home. And Jorga Bell has described how she heard a forensics officer say they had not seen anything like it before.
The 20-year-old McDonalds worker said: "It's something you never think you will witness.
"I was at the window when I seen all the people in white suits. The lady said; 'the one in the living room', so they must have been in different rooms.
"She seemed really confused and she asked the other forensics officer if they wee alight."
"Then she said she hadn't seen anything like it before."
And Jorga said the mystery surrounding the deaths had left her feeling very uneasy.
"We still don't know what's going on," she said. "The forensics were there all weekend.
"The police have not left. They are just sitting at the end of the street. It's a bit weird. It's quite nerve-racking."
Nikita Donaldson, 20, who lives with Jorga a couple of doors down from where the bodies were found, said she only knew of one man who lived at the property.
"I have only ever seen one, which was the older one," said Nikita who also works at McDonalds.
"We hardly ever see him. He never came out the house. If we did see him it was only when he went to get shopping.
"We have lived here for 12 years and I've only seen him about four times."
