Walker dies after collapsing on mountain path

A man has died after collapsing while walking in north Wales. Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team confirmed that their call handlers were made aware of a collapsed walker on Cader Idris near Dolgellau in Gwynedd shortly after 4pm on May 23.

The "unresponsive, lone male" said to be in his 60s was found by a group of six walkers on the Minffordd path below Llyn Cau in the Eryri National Park. Despite prolonged CPR by passers-by and advanced interventions by a Coastguard winchman paramedic the man could not be resuscitated.

The search and rescue team shared their condolences to the man's friends and family on their Facebook page. In a statement released on Friday night a spokesman for Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team said: "Shortly after 4pm on Tuesday, May 23, call handlers from Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team were made aware of a collapsed walker on Cader Idris.
