'Walk away now' - Manchester United fans all share the same concern over £80m Darwin Nunez

Manchester United supporters have shared their concerns over the potential big-money signing of Darwin Nunez.

Speculation over the Benfica forward continues to swirl amid reports key figures in the Old Trafford boardroom are closing in on an agreement with the Portuguese side. Nunez has scored 34 goals in 41 games for Benfica this season and is understood to be a priority target.

Having touched down in the UK to set about his much-needed rebuild, manager Erik ten Hag wants a centre-back and versatile attacking option, not to mention at least one recruit in central midfield.

Along with RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku - who has been recommended to United by Ralf Rangnick as he steps into an advisory role - Nunez has emerged as a possible target. Both players have been among the most lethal finishers on the continent this season.

Nunez scored 26 times in 28 league appearances and added a further six goals in the Champions League. Reports circulating over the course of this weekend suggest United are closing in on a deal, but some outlets say Benfica want £80million for his services.

It comes as they are obligated to pay a 20 per cent sell-on fee to his former club Almeria. Nunez has three years left to run on his contract.

Needless to say, the staggering reported fee has raised eyebrows among United supporters, especially considering the fact it had been predicted potential suitors might only have to pay £60million for him this summer. Here is what the United supporters are saying about the Uruguayan on Twitter.
