Wales suffer penalty shootout woe once again in devastating defeat

Wales (Organization) World Cup

Wales suffered World Cup play-off heartbreak, losing 4-2 on penalties to Bosnia and Herzegovina after a 1-1 draw in Cardiff.
Daniel James put Wales ahead with a stunning strike soon after half-time, bringing them within minutes of a home play-off final.
Edin Dzeko, celebrating his 40th birthday, equalised for Bosnia with a header from a corner, extending his record goals tally.
In the penalty shootout, Karl Darlow saved Ermedin Demirovic's kick, but Brennan Johnson blazed over and Neco Williams had his penalty saved.
The defeat marks a cruel repeat of Wales' Euro 2024 play-off exit, as spot-kicks again proved their undoing, ending their World Cup aspirations.
