Wales' highest restaurant, the Grape and Olive in Swansea, has closed suddenly

A Swansea restaurant which enjoys one of the finest panoramic sea views anywhere in Wales has suddenly closed. The Grape and Olive, which is situated on the top floor of the Meridian Tower, first opened in 2010 after being taken over by SA Brain. It is the highest restaurant in Wales

But a notice has now been placed at the ground floor level warning customers that it is no longer currently operating. It reads: "The Grape and Olive is now officially closed until further notice. Apologies for any inconvenience caused."

The restaurant is located on the 29th floor of the 300ft tower overlooking the city with unrivalled views. It had initially been known as The Penthouse when it first opened in 2009, but soon closed after being dogged by staff protests and claims of late pay, leading to a takeover by SA Brain, which has run it ever since.
