Wales and England football fans appear to have clashed in an ugly incident in Tenerife which saw punches and chairs thrown between rival sets of supporters. Video shared on Twitter on Friday night and captioned "England v Wales pre-match in Tenerife" shows dozens of men brawling in the street with chairs hurled and punches and kicks thrown. Dozens of onlookers can be seen watching the violence with many filming.
Several of those involved in the disturbance are wearing football shirts while fans wearing Welsh bucket hats can be seen stood in the street. It is unclear exactly when the footage was taken but the footage clearly shows the CC Veronicas strip in Playa de las Americas in the south of Tenerife.
Both Wales and England are taking part in the World Cup in Qatar but many fans opted against travelling to the Middle East country owing to strict regulations on alcohol as well as lack of accommodation and the cost implications, all of which would might hamper their fan experience. As a result many travelled to Tenerife with around 2,500 Welsh fans thought to have flown to the island to cheer on Rob Page's side at the World Cup.

But the footage circulating online suggests that on Friday night, following a day where Wales went down 2-0 to Iran and England played out a goalless draw, unsavoury scenes played out on the Spanish streets. Footage of a particularly unpleasant conflict between the two sets of fans was shared on social media with a number of supporters, many of whom were donning the replica football jerseys of their country's football team, throwing fists and even hurling chairs at one another. Filmed outside the Revolution and Jumping Jacks night club with dance music pumping out in the background, the video shows some fans being knocked clean to the ground after violent punches were thrown.

The rival nations will come together on the football pitch in Qatar next Tuesday in a high-stakes match with qualification out of Group B on the line. That match, however, will be 4,000 miles away from where this fight took place.
