Wakefield Trinity recall Yusuf Aydin after impressive Leeds Rhinos debut

Leeds Rhinos loanee Yusuf Aydin has been recalled to his parent club Wakefield Trinity following the end of his two-week stay at Headingley. Aydin was a substitute in the Rhinos’ 42-12 home victory over Wigan Warriors on Thursday, but Matt Prior is available again for next Saturday’s trip to Catalans Dragons.

Trinity have brought in front-rower Josh Bowden from Hull FC, who will make his home debut in Sunday’s clash with leaders St Helens. Aydin will also be part of Willie Poching’s squad as they gear up for a fight with relegation.

Head coach Poching, who has lost forward Jay Pitts to a season-ending injury, said: “We will be calling Yusuf back – we need to replenish our stock of middles.

“I think it has been a great experience for him going over there and playing in that game [on Thursday] will have done him a world of good, but we need him here and back within our group.

“I am still to have a look at him from Thursday night in detail, but he played a pretty good hand in the game. He didn’t do anything that shone out, but it sounds like he did his job and did it well so hopefully he gets a lot of confidence from that and we can use that when he gets back here.”

Aydin, 21, is out of contract at the end of this season but Poching added: “We have given him an offer. It is in his and his manager’s hands now.”
