A dog show with categories such as ‘Waggiest Tail’ and ‘Scruffiest Dog’ will be the highlight of a fundraising summer fete in Dalkey.
The adorable competition is part of a bigger parish event organised by St Patrick's Parish on Saturday, May 13. In this charity event, the parish is raising funds for the local parish school.
Ali, who is involved in the organisation of the event, told Dublin Live: “[The summer fete] is normally the biggest fundraiser for the parish and would bring in quite a lot of money… It's definitely the biggest fundraiser in all the local community.”

This is their first fete since 2019 as Covid put a temporary stop to it. Now they are back and they are looking to bring in more things, including the dog show which will be the final part of the event.
Other categories in the show will include ‘Best Mover’, ‘Best Trick’, ‘Judges Pet’ and ‘Best Presented Dog’. Those who register online will be paying €5 per category. However, there are also exclusive online discounts where three categories are €10 and registering for all six is €20 per dog.
Ali also said: “We're trying to build interest and we're looking for any local businesses that would be happy to sponsor prizes and promote themselves as well.”
Other than the show, there will be food stalls, clothes, games, lunches, and even a bouncy castle all while live music is playing in the background. Attendees can also expect to find plants, books, toys, ice creams and lunches. There will also be a raffle and a bric a brac.
