The world's favourite Blue Heeler family is coming to Newcastle for Bluey's Big Play - The Stage Show.
The live show is returning to Australia in January after touring Ireland, the UK, Singapore and the US, and will stop off at the Civic Theatre from January 29 to February 2.
Audiences of all ages will get to see Bluey, Bingo, Bandit and Chilli as they've never seen them before: as puppets.
And parents, it goes without saying that this is going to be the hottest ticket in town. The storyline, too, might resonate: Dad feels like a some Sunday afternoon time out but Bluey and Bingo have other plans, and they pull out all of the games and cleverness at their disposal to get Dad off that bean bag.
Bluey's Big Play is a theatrical adaptation of the BAFTA, Logie and Emmy award-winning children's television series produced by Ludo Studio. Based on an original new story written by Bluey creator Joe Brumm, the theatrical adaptation contains music by Bluey composer Joff Bush and is directed by Rosemary Myers of Windmill Theatre Company.
"The show has visited venues across the world, delighting a huge global audience of Bluey fans," Myers said.
"It's great to bring the show back to Australia with newly added audience participation, making it an even more thrilling experience to be with the Heeler family in real life."
Added producer Andrew Kay: "After numerous successful tours internationally, the show has been seen by close to 2 million patrons. We are very proud to bring Bluey's Big Play back home."
A Nielsen study has revealed that in 2023 Bluey was the number one series for preschoolers and kids and the second-most-streamed series in the US.
It is the number one children's show in Australia and was last week named Best Children's Program at the 2024 TV WEEK Logie Awards.
Bluey's Big Play - The Stage Show is showing at Newcastle's Civic Theatre from Wednesday, January 29 to Sunday, February 2, two shows daily at 9.30am and 12.30pm. On Saturday, February 1, there will also be a show at 3.30pm.
If you intend to bring a child under 18 months old at the time of the performance, phone the Civic Theatre Box Office on 4929 1977 to organise a Babe in Arms ticket.
