A young Perth woman accused of choking her seven-month-old baby has faced court.
Holly Anne Maxwell, 26, was charged with two counts of impeding another person's normal breathing or blood circulation by applying pressure to the neck.
She is also accused of threatening to kill and impeding the infant's normal breathing or blood circulation by blocking the nose or mouth.
Maxwell was granted bail in Joondalup Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
The offences allegedly occurred between June 2022 and January 2023.
"Police were made aware of the alleged abuse on January 9 and the woman was subsequently arrested, charged and held in custody pending her first court appearance," a Western Australian police spokesman said.
The child was taken to Perth Children's Hospital for medical assessment.
The woman is due to reappear in the same court on January 20.
