WA Police investigate death of 24-year-old man in Boulder

Homicide Squad and Kalgoorlie Police detectives are investigating the death of a 24-year-old man in Boulder in Western Australia's Goldfields.

Police were called to a Richardson Street home at about 10pm on Thursday and found an injured man.

Detectives spent much of Friday at the property, with the street remaining blocked for most of the day as forensics officers examined the scene.

He was taken by ambulance to Kalgoorlie Hospital, where he died a short time later.

An 18-year-old man is currently assisting police with inquiries.

One neighbour told the ABC she had heard screaming and yelling at the property overnight, but said large numbers of visitors meant that was not unusual.

"They generally party late into the night and fight; it's pretty common," she said.

"The way they carry on; I can't say it's expected, but it's not surprising."

Others said they heard little overnight and only realised something had occurred when they saw police cars on the street this morning.

"I wouldn't say it's a quiet place — there were quite a number of people you'd see there sitting outside, a number of children as well," one neighbour said.

"I'd see quite a number of adults."

Another said the area was generally safe, but they avoided walking the streets at night.

"I have no problems, but maybe the elderly might have the hairs on the back of their neck standing up, single mothers and single fathers," the neighbour said.

"There are scumbags out there."

Anyone with information relating to this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online.
